About Home Repair & Care
A community initiative implemented by Community One and funded by CenterPoint Energy Foundation
Home Repair & Care is a pre-weatherization initiative created to help homeowners reduce energy waste and live in safer homes. Pre-weatherization means addressing key repairs first so a home is better prepared to be energy efficient, especially during extreme temperatures. The program focuses on major repairs and replacements that improve how a home performs, especially during extreme temperatures.

This initiative will run through 2026 and 2027 as funding allows.
Why This Program Exists
Many homeowners live in older homes that lose energy through outdated systems or needed repairs, making it difficult to keep utility costs manageable and homes safe. When homes lose energy, families often face higher bills and less comfortable living conditions year-round. Home Repair & Care fills this gap by investing in repairs that help families thrive in safer, healthier, and more energy-efficient homes.

Application and Review Process
Applications are reviewed by Community One to confirm eligibility based on program guidelines. Once your application is reviewed, a Community One team member will visit your home to assess your project and confirm your eligibility by reviewing:

-
Proof of income (e.g. tax return)
-
Proof of home ownership (e.g. mortgage paperwork)
-
Your most recent CenterPoint bill.

During this visit you will also be asked to sign a waiver. Submitting an application does not guarantee assistance. Repairs are subject to eligibility, funding availability, and program capacity.
